On July 27th, The Louth Filmmakers Society held their Reggae Reggae Docks event, offering up a quality night of classic and vintage Reggae music, played on nothing but that distinctive vinyl, on a set of technic 12 10’s.

The night was another in a line of fundraisers to help pay for the upcoming Louth Film Festival, also presented by the Louth Filmmakers Society.

Some of the talent playing on the night was DJ Ciaran Smith, DJ Sam O’Hare and DJ Neill Waters. They led the explosive night that saw all of the patrons outside in the sunny weather with drinks in hand and the reggae pumping.

The event was a complete takeover of the docks area outside of the Spirit Store. The Spirit Store is of course the amazing venue that held our  ‘Summer Is Coming’ event in June, which was just as popular. The Spirit Store, who were delighted with the turnout, were still kind enough to make a €50 donation to the society and the film festival, which was really appreciated.

It wasn’t just a night of Reggae though. Since 4pm when the event started, party games were brought out for the crowd to enjoy. This included a best of 5, 1v1 series of basketball games, darts and table football. As Louth Filmmakers fashion, we also had a raffle to give away one of our custom built hampers. This time it was our party hardy hamper and session kit.

All-in-all it was a very successful night. Both the Louth Filmmakers Society and the Spirit Store thought it a huge success, and if we go on to make it one of our yearly fundraisers, we could see the amazing crowd double next year. These future events can’t be missed.
